Thumbs up Sacramento Clave in the books

Guess I'll be the first to chime in. We had our first spey clave yesterday on the American river here in Sacramento hosted by Kiene's fly shop. Jeff Putnam, Adam Grace and others from Kiene's went out of their way to make all feel welcome and there was a lot of local interest in spey casting, a fairly new thing to fly guys here in the central valley.

At one point there must have been 20 guys and gals lined up in the water casting and everyone with some experience was right there helping the newbies and not so newbies get the hang of it, and it looked like a lot of lights went on out there. A special shout out to Adam Grace who went up and down the line all day helping everyone who needed it. Adam is a great caster in his own right. Jeff Putnam put on a couple of great seminars including how to actually fish with these things. Great job Jeff! And as usual, you gave generously of your time and knowledge.

Chef du'jour was Bill kiene himself on the BBQ! Hey Bill, a big thank you for everything. It was greatly apreciated.

Bob Pauli and Jimsand from the board, was nice to meet the both of you. I understand there were others, but I didn't know who was who. We need to get those hats! Hope everyone had as good a time as I did.

I will second that rave. Was great fun - sorry I miised some of you but met a few folks from past Rogue River claves. Jeff sure made it look easy.

Never been striper fishing so next morning I went out with Bill for a short trip and though I did not hook any fish I will be back - we saw some really big fish drifting the river and that got my heart going big time - so more gear to get!!
