When is the Marlow Bumpus Clave?

I hate to jump the gun on this Marlow, but I have to put in for vacation before the tenth if we are a go for the Steelhead Park in April. I can't remember which weekend you told me at Spey days. I been passing pills to long and Alzheimer's is an airborne disease. Anyway, let us know incase I work that weekend, I can put in vacation instead of telling them I'm having brain surgery again.

Rockport Spey Thing

Matt

Sorry, Ive been waiting to confirm some final details before I advertize it which will be soon.

The date is definately April 24. We have always done it on the last Saturday of the C & R on the Skagit for which we have a standing reservation. Unfortunately, this date conflicts with the big function the GGACC is having in San Francisco but our tradition dates back several years.

Rockport, April 24

Everything is set up for the gathering at Rockport on the 24th of April from 10 AM to 4 PM.

We will have a friendly spey casting competition for which the rod and line will be supplied. This year Aaron Reimer will supply the rod which will be a 9 wt. Skagit Cast Specialest CND. We will use the same old line and grass leader we have for the past 5 years. Scores will be kept and the person with the score closest to the average for the day will win the rod. (Thanks Aaron)

The competition will consist of 10 measured casts. 5 casts will be made starting with the line laying to your left and 5 from the right. The longest cast from each side will be added together to produce your score. Contestants will be allowed 3 practice casts from each side.

There will be casting instruction for casters of all levels of experience.

The only cost to partiticipate in the event will be your participation in keeping score, measuring, teaching, demonstrating or just showing up.

This event will be in honor of the the late, great Jim Green who's idea it was in 1998.

Hope you can make it.

Thank you Brian

I recieved an e-mail this morning from Nobuo Nodera of CND informing me that he has shipped a rod to replace the one Aaron donated. As you know, we are all trying to keep the games free to all and, well, that doesn't leave much for the purchase of a prize.

We owe both of these gentelmen a great big THANK YOU.

See you this week end.

Thanks Aaron and Mr. Nodera. It should be a great time. It even looks like the weather may cooperate this weekend.
