GREAT LAKES SPEY FEST

Casting/Fishing Demonstrations on Saturday by:

9:30-Pete Humphreys.
Pete is an FFF Certified Two Hand Casting Instructor ¸and a Farbanks, (Sage, Rio, and Redington), Ambassador and a Muskegon River Guide specializing in the swung fly.

10:30-Kevin Feenstra of Feenstra Guide Service.
Kevin is a Muskegon River Guide, Fly Designer/Tyer, and Video host with unimpeachable talents. Kevin’s demonstration will focus on “Fishing the Swung Fly”, and is guaranteed to offer insights that will change the way you fish.

11:30-Gary Kalinka.
Gary is the West Michigan “Godfather of the Longbelly line”, and Nextcast Pro Staff, will present on the transition from short heads to long heads, explaining the changes in technique required to be successful. Advantages will also be covered.

12:00-Pig Roast lunch, bring your own beverage.

1:00-Michael Mauri
"Since 1998, Michael has participated in international shows and conducted single- and double-hand casting workshops around the globe. As a professional fly-fisher, he guides throughout Europe from Italy to Norway and, in early 2012, began guiding in the United States. In search of new challenges, he continuously hones his own skills while - at the same time - coming up with new ideas to develop and improve equipment". Michael, along with rod builder and designer Mike McFarland are designing and building innovative fly rods in both graphite and fiberglass as Seele Fly Rods.

We will migrate to a different location for all to tie and celebrate. Bring your tools and materials to share your favorite patterns. Many of the attendees are among of the best tiers around, and have much to offer.

Hmmmm...

hi Everyone,
I'm really looking forward to this event. I plan arriving Thursday. I will be fishing Thursday and Friday but I should be around the park in the afternoon/evening. Look me up if you want to try out some NextCast lines before the event. I will have an assortment of WA35, WA40, WA45, WA55, WA70, SF40 and SF45 available throughout the weekend.

Gary,

I will have the 15' bamboo spey rod with me loaded with a WA 70 line. I need a few pointers. I might want to try a WA 55 in 10/11 on that rod.

Updates

A couple of updates.
We will have a sign up sheet for 15-20 minute personal lessons, plan on signing up early to be sure you get on the list.
We have +/- 15 pre-owned rods for sale at Spey Fest, as well as all the new stuff we always have.
We have some cool prizes from our generous vendors.
Weather is looking good.
The pig is all fattened and ready for us.
We have a few spots left in the Sunday Michael Mauri School, contact us at 800-303-0567, to reserve your place.
