Hi Guys,
I posted this message a couple of days ago in the other spey clave file, with no responce.
I figured there could be some reasons why there was no responce.
1. It was burried at the bottome of a long list or...
2. I am stepping on someone's toes or...
3. there genuinely is no intrest any more.
I know that #3 is not valid...

There is a tremendous interest in your Sandy Spey Clave.
You can expect lots of company.
I have placed an announcement in our weekly email newsletter, the "Insider".
It contains a link to a printable map of Oxbow Park.
You will also find an announcement for a FREE Dec Hogan spey casting clinic sponsored by FlyLogic and The Fly Fishing Shop.
I invited Dec to the Spey Clave, but unfortunately he will be on tour in the mid-West during that time.
The run you are talking about above the boat ramp at Oxbow is called "Last Chance".
Don't expect to get lonely.  It's well known.  Some of these pictures were taken there:
Don't let the $3 Park fee get you down.  Be glad it is to support such a beautiful place on such a beautiful river.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next message I placed says that if a larger meeting hall is needed that The Fly Fishing Shop will pay for one days rent of one of the covered pavillians.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Talk to me.  Please.
Fish long & prosper,
Mark Bachmann

Mark,

Your offer to rent the covered area is extremely generous. Would it help you to know more accuratly how many will be attending at least for the day you rent it? Right now I am expecting around 25 people from this site. As far as I am concerned the more people in attendance the better. You mentioned wanting to bring in some reps, If you can find some willing to be there I think that would be great. I think if we planned to meet at the covered area midmorning on Saturday it would be a great opportunity for everyone to get to know eachother and for any willing reps to show off their products. How much advance notice is required to reserve the covered area? Is there anything that you need to know from this group???

All,

What does everyone think? anyones comments, suggestions and ideas would be greatly appreciated. Also, if Mark rents a covered area for us to use it would be great if people would demonstrate any skills they might have. Someone has already mentioned wanting to give a line splicing demonstration. Any additional demonstrations would greatly add to the variety and the overall enjoyment of the outing for all. Remember people are coming there to learn and make new friends shareing your skill and experience is a great way for both to happen. I guess that I would suggest that if Mark rents the covered area that we all meet there on Saturday at 10:00 AM for a couple hours to meet and mingle and have any demonstrations or seminars.

Again any ideas comments or suggestions? Do you have any knowledge or skill you could demonstrate??? please let us know.

tight lines

Rob Allen

Need'ent fret; If you build it, they will come.

You were 100% on the mark, the last board on the Clave had hit max and then some. First board on the topic hit 50'ish before we restarted so 70+ on the second run gets/got to be unmangable :>)
The 'price' of the campground is not unreasonable; most of these guys 'spill' more at one trip to the  gravel "bar."  More the better; you guys are doing a wonderful service with your participation, advice, local knowledge, etc.

We're all very greatfull and you will be deluged with questions, etc., before as we get closer to May's target date.

Mark:

I have only recently become a member of this forum as well as to two-handed fly casting, and am perhaps a bit reluctant to jump-in with comments.

But make no mistake, I am very excited about how this thing is shaping-up and I will be there "with bells on", (Where did that phrase come from anyway?) and I will be bringning an interested friend or two with me.

I am "pumped" about the prospects that your participation brings to the event, and will be set to learn all I can from you and all others willing to teach.

I appreciate, very much, your willingness to participate.

Mark,

Your participation and offer has only strengthened my resolve to participate.  I think there will probably be a big group when the time comes.  Considering Clark-Skamania Flyfishers regularly gets 25 to 50 participants at their spring and fall clinics, I think we are likely to have at least that many for this; possibly many more.  Although the spey casters are still relatively few amongst fly fishers, they are amongst the most passionate as you know!

Mark,

I would like to take this opportunity to extend my thanks for the time and effort you are contributing to our Sandy Clave in spite of the already heavy demands on your time.  I'm sure I am speaking for all participants in saying that if we could be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.
