Just a beginner learning on this rod, but figured I'd volunteer what I know.
Mostly used a RIO Windcutter 7/8/9. Loads the rod well, with power to spare for shooting line. A modified Windcutter belly (for a 64' head) appears to be near the "loading limit" for this rod, and shooting line is more difficult. Could just be my lack of practice.
The folks at Scott say this rod was developed with the SA 8/9 Spey line, and recommend the SA 8/9 or the RIO 7/8/9 for this rod.
A standard DT8 seems to be a bit light for this rod, based on some limited test casting that I have done. Sometime around August or so I'll try it again as a summer dry line and post the results here.t

regarding the scott 13-08
for what it's worth, my 2 cents:
this is a rod without an application. too soft and short for decent distance casting, not enough sack for heavier tips, too flexible for good line control beyond about 75 feet. was very disappointed in this rod.
better alternatives: scott 12'8"-7, 15-09
sage 9140 or 8150 (maybe 7136)
t & t 15-09
