I just picked up a copy of the new Dean river journal by Art Lingren. I'm hoping the texts is as inforamtive as the Thompson RJ. I noticed something that looked out of place, I'm looking for the answer from someone on page 13 the picture of Harry and Peter looks a lot like the Nicola side of the Thompson toward John's Rock. Am I off on this I just doesn't look like what I invisioned the Dean to look like, not a big deal just question.
regards

I agree it does look like the Thompson, but not by the Johns Rock (Rock Run) that I know.  In the picture there is a road on the other side.  Perhaps the picture is taken at the Hotel and the background is below the pilings.  (maybe)  On the other hand, Harry is holding a bamboo rod with what looks like a smallish Perfect.  Not exactly Thompson equipment.  BTW, does anyone know if Peter McVey lives in Clackamas, OR?

GB,

Don't know about Peter living in Clackamas. I do know that he used to have a cane rod clinic at his resort (fishing lodge) in the interior (B.C.) I will say thats not the Clack in the background.

On a side I was thinking of hitting the Sandy tomorrow but with this rain shes a little high any suggestions on the Clack, I've never fished the lower river.

I agree, without question that is the Thompson River. It appears that the photo is taken from the campground at the Acacia Grove Motel, which is where Harry prefers to camp. I guess Art really wanted to use this photo in his Thompson River Journal and thought he'd better use here!
