I've been lurking and following this site for over a year now. I sure like it as I am a steelhead nut and fish with a 2-handed rod exclusively. I've had the pleasure of meeting Dana and Tyler and sharing a glass of scotch with both.
Anyhow I was finally successful on the Thompson early this month! I've been trying there for three seasons (tho only fished a couple of hours in '00). This October I fished five days, landed two beautiful fish (including a 39" buck) and got another to boil on my dry. Got 'em all on a dry to boot!
I am fortunate enought to live in SE Ak where I have lots of aggressive natives just out of my door and have caught steelhead from southcentral AK to the Deschutes, but I've never caught fish like those from the Thompson! I darn near got spooled by one even with a no 3 salmon reel!
Anyway, sorry to gloat. Though I'm proud of my accomplishment as the Thompson and its fish are a supreme challenge!

Now you understand that huge grin on Dana's face in the home page.
