Any know if Derek Brown still has a web site? If so please give the URL.

To the best of my knowledge Derek no longer maintains a web presence. Currently, he is consulting with Winston on the re-design of their line of Spey rods, so that's something to look forward to in a year or so.

Derek no longer has his web site (canned it last year... pity). There were some problems associated with the name of his server (demon.uk) which wasn't well received in the small town he lives in (Tweeddale). He is currently working hard and saving money to get back into the "market", is doing well personally, is healthy and happy. He was planning on working with Winston on a new series of spey rods (due out in September), and, last I spoke with him, was planning on visiting the Winston boys in Montana sometime this month.

had a few nice chats with derek over the past couple of months. he is doing well, although teaching in the u.k. has been slow so far this spring. the collaboration with winston hasn't happened yet.

Derek's video was my introduction to spey casting about 3 years ago. I was fortunate to take both his beginner and 'advanced' courses through Kaufmann's in Maupin, OR. A very nice fellow and woooonderful spey casting instructor. After my experience with Derek have come near several times of tossing Jim Vincent's video in the trashcan---a real 'how-not-to" on spey casting technique. Does anyone know if Derek does any guiding and how to contact him? I could of course contact the people out at Kaufmann's---just thought I would ask. Eyeman

I agree whole-heartedly re Derek's video and Vincent's 1st one. However, in fairness to Jim his later video - International Speycasting is quite good. While Jim is one of the "Spey-bro's" he doesn't do much casting, maybe that's why it is so good. Never-the-less its a good video that should be checked out. Tight lines - kush.

derek is available at the following telephone number: 011 44 721 729570, but remember they are 5 hours ahead of eastern standard time. he goes to be by 10 PM, so call first thing in the morning. his fax is 011 44 721 729514, and his address is 13 glensax road, peebles, EH45 9AP, Tweeddale, Scotland. he does guide a lot, is the best teacher (and caster) i have seen, and has taken alexander grant's casting concepts to the next level.
if you call him, tell him way yin gave you the number (but then he might hang up on you haha).
derek will be in maupin again this september with the kaufmann's gig. teaching class after class is quite tiring for him, but you may be able to talk him into fishing with you (a sex change operation would help on this...). i really want to go over to scotland and fish with him sometime in the next couple of years. he's really a great guy.
