I recently spent a few days with Loop casting guru Henrik Mortensen learning the ways of the underhand cast. I have some great close up footage of Henrik casting that should answer a lot of questions about how the cast is executed. I'm currently working on a feature article on the cast and will include this footage when I go live with the article.

Rumour had it that you met Morten. Good!! It shall be nice to hear what you found out - as you know 90% of my fishing is done with that cast. WE STILL HAVE SOME MENDING TO SORT OUT!!
Currently I am fishing a bit for searun browns in central Stockholm. I have found a new toy that beats anything I ever tried when using 700 and 850 grain heads. That is T&T's new 12 feet class 12 rod, designed for stripers. An amazing thing that really not loads much with lighter lines. With the dredges it comes in to ply and feels like a 9 weight...... Hope you get a chance to review it - it should be a real killer for kings and serious winter fishing. Oddly enough this short rod behaves much better than my T&T 16', GLX 15'6" and Sage 16' when using these really heavy lines. The shorter length matches the 30' heads better, I think.
Take care and God bless your growing family,

I've heard some good things about that T&T rod and I think I'll talk to the local reps to see if I can get my hands on a demo. Kush might be heading out east for stripers next summer and I'd like to get one of those into his hands for that trip as well.
About the underhand etc--more details to follow!

Two buddies, Rob Estlund & Joe Solakian from Milwaukee met Henrik Mortensen & learned the underhand cast at a "Speydays" function last month.
Last week, Joe talked me into switching from a DT10 to a new Delta10/11 & trying the cast.
Talk about a revalation! I've been working way too hard, & this cast is the answer for anyone with arthritis or other physical problems.
I'm NOT claiming any mastery of the underhand,(still have trouble keeping my top hand motionless), & with the weather that just set in here in Wisconsin, it will probably be a couple months before any more significant practice, but I feel like this cast will be #1 in the future arsenal.
