I have cast the older brown 9140 and it wasa nice rod to cast and had a nice feel to it.  The new green one is a couple of oz. heavier.  They say it has a stiffer action.  Will they handle the same lines?  What is your opinion and which would you recommend. Jerry

Personal opinion here only but having one (old) and using the other I'd "up-line it by one for a single line wt. If you're using a multiple line wt line, as long as "7" is the low number e.g. 7-8-9 you're probably fine. On a wt forward look to a 8-9 at the minimum.

I can only speak to the new 9140-4, and it IS well matched to the Mid-Spey 9/10.

Thanks for the imput.  It sounds like the 9140-4 is a good rod and I know that there are a lot of them out there.  I already have the lines and would be willing to buy a 9140-4.  I f you are close to N W Washington let me know.  [email protected].  Thank you.  Jerry
