I was just wondering what kind of leader lengths work for you guys? Leaders on a sink tip and floating lines. I know some lengths cast better than they fish so which ones fish best and which ones cast best?

Interested to hear what others use. The most successful rod I know uses 20' on a dry line.Brian

Hi, for my underhand-casting my leaderlength is at leat 20 ft, on a floating line. It depends on the size of fly. The bigger the fly, the shorter the leader.
For singles smaller than # 6 the lenght of the leader can be up to 23 ft.

My preferred leader length(s) pretty much overlay Whistlers. I may shorten up to 'rod length' if I'm using two or more heavy flys. But other than this (for me) I find that once I go over17 feet, even with a 15 foot rod, I'm loosing control.
