I would like to introduce myself to the community/list. My name is Peter and I live in Sacramento, Northern California. I've been speyfishing for about 5 years for steelhead, shad, and salmon. I fish each winter/spring on the Skagit/Sauk and try to make the Deschutes or N. Umpqua each summer. I'm pretty much a self-taught speycaster, since when I started there were few people down here that knew anything about speycasting. To learn, I bought the Maxwell book and watched the Vincent video so many times that I wore out my VCR. Fortunately, I live about 20 minutes from the American River and was able to practice quite a bit. What really helped was instruction from Scott O'Donnell while fishing the Skagit. He has taught me a lot about speyfishing.
I currently own 6 spey rods, including all the 4-piece sage rods, a Maxwell Tigereye, and a Scott 14' 9wt. I use them all at different times of the year and all are fine rods. I probably use the 9140 most of the time with a Rio Windcutter.
I'm looking forward to learning more from all of you in the future.
