Embedded in the thread below was a question about appropriate lines for dbl handed rods. I was wondering if anyone out there has experience with lines for use on the Scott ARC 1308-3. Sorry to start right in on a "gear" question, but I'm a beginner who just started with this rod, and I don't have the means to try every line under the sun. d

That seems to be a dandy rod, that Scott of yours. I fish quite a lot with SAGE's 12'4" #8 rod. With some luck the lines I use for that can be transferred over to your 13'.

The most allround line I have is the Airflo multi tip #10. It is not a true "Spey-line" as the head is relatively short (~42'). But it casts beatifully and gives you an upper edge when fishing under trees or were you not can wade out due to step banks. (A shorter and heavier head means the D-loop gets so much smaller than with a full lenght line) It is important to step up a few line classes when using that short a head.

As a pure floating line I use a Triangle taper Spey 8/9.

Just a few thoughts,
