Welcome, Jim.  While this site has more people and more knowledge/experience, you'll find midwest locals in the Spey Forum of the Steelhead Site (www.steelheadsite.com).  I'm Carl on both sites, from Grand Haven, and mostly fish the Muskegon, and Rogue, with occasional trips to the PM and Grand.  I think you'll find many midwestern speyfishermen watching both sites.

I am long time trout flyfisher (42 years), and mid west fly fisherman (steelhead, salmon, trout) (21 years).  All one handed fly rods experience of all types, wet, nymph, dry, streamer, etc...  Looking to get into spey fishing
particularly the rod purchase.  Now in R+D mode.

Want something versatile though that would be suitable for Michigan rivers (PM, Muskegon, Manistees, St. Joseph, etc) and which I also could use forl trips to the
PNW for steelhead.  Note would also like something I could use for dry and wet fly fishing.

Does anything this versatile exist in current spey rods if not what is the best alternative?

Happy Holidays to all,

Hal Eckert
