With some great value going round in Zaxis double handers ,am about to take the plunge and get a 9143-4 ,can any of you guys fill me in on possible issues with this model? will be mainly using it with a spey line and intermediate tip.
TH.
No problems with them from what I've heard. It's about to be replaced with the Sage One. That being said, it might be worth posting an ad in the classifieds here that you are looking for one. You're liable to find an even better priced rod...
TH what part of the Blackie are you on, I'm near Killavullen myself. I've got the rod you are considering, bought from a member on here, if you want to try it out. I love fishing with it and have had no issue with it what so ever, a great rod, I use a Windcutter 2 with 15'tips and also AFS heads without problems.
Thanks lads have had a look around and with the current FX a euro sale is very attractive. Klink,I fish in Ballyduff but am hopping to have a day up in Foxes very soon fished Monday evening and saw few bombing up your direction story of the season so far am afraid . The brand seems to polarize people over here with a lot of brand loyalty for Guideline among my circle . Glad to hear your impressed by it and will give those lines a go although hope to give a longer line a go as shooting heads are starting to wreck mine.
I fish in Ballyduff myself, probably the opposite bank! I'd fish Fortwilliam during the year if I get the chance and have a couple of days in July in Lismore. Normally though, as you know the way with the Blackie, its a case of following the height, so for the most part I'm up above Mallow or further up the system for the past number of weeks. Good numbers seen going through Castletownroche in the last day or two, with some big fish among them. Anyway if you want to try the rod out your more than welcome. Foxes? where abouts is that?
The Sage 9143-4 Z-Axis is a fine rod, light weight and quick recovery without being overly stiff. I do not own the rod however, several of our students have brought them to classes and we test cast all rods for line match up.
Cheers FK glad to hear that ,am hoping to get a Carron 65 8/9 when the dust of this purchase settles down, will be giving a snowbee 2d a throw at the weekend with it . Yeah Klink, "Foxes" Connie Corcaron calls it ,I think Balinalovane Hse have it a few days a week , up your neck of the woods . Thanks for the offer but am going to go for it and get the rod I dont really use sinking lines and if I need to have a I vision 14ft which copes well enough with them .
Slàn PJ.
