LOOMIS GLX Stinger 13' 4 piece

Any line suggestions for this rod in Compact Skagit and Skandi ?

I have been packing it on trips as a backup rod and have never spent any time dialing it in.

It would interesting to hear what lines you like to use on it.

Ace 8/9

Vision ACE #8/9 shooting head cut to 28g is the perfect setup.

Thanks Henning. That gives me a starting point although at 432 grains (28 grams) it is a lot lighter than I would have guessed.

My friend has the 12'6" 3 piece Stinger and it is a rocket with a 600 grain Rio Skagit Flight and 12' of T14.

Just talked to Josh Linn and he likes a 600 Skagit too.

I'm sure that's going to be more in line with west coast salmon/steelheading.

Please note, the 13 is softer and deeper lodging as the 126 Stinger!

The 12,6 8/9 and the 13 8/9 Stinger have the same casting weight (28-29 gram), but the 13 has an deeper lodging action! A nice combination is a Vision ACE 29 gram ( or cut -1gram) shooting head, a Guidline 9/10 Powertaper cut to 28 gram or the Rio ASF 7/8 (27 gram) + Pollyleader. I have all this lines and prefer the ACE

Smile Loomis 8/9 Stinger

Pete: Hello! I fished the first week of the King run with you on the Kanektok this year! I have that rod and love it. It casts great with an Airflo Compact Skagit 600 grain line and with a floating Vision Ace cut to 490 grains. See ya in January at EMB. Cheers, Pete Bracken

Hi Pete,

Those TDF Sea Runs must be about number 58 or so on your list.

I actually have both of those lines which I use the on my Burky 8134 so I'm all set.

I look forward to seeing you again.

Pete

Pete - I look forward to seeing you too! Sandra and I fished EMB ten years ago. We are really happy to be going back--this time with double handers. Cheers, Pete
