Epic DH13

I am bumping this up as I have a similar question.

There is little on the open internet about these rods. Any experience?

Thanks.

Swift Web Reviews

Hi Fatman,

Yes, have read through them several times. A couple have some good information outside of the normal "Great rod", "Nice cork", "Epic rocks", type reviews. Was more hoping someone here had some good fishing experience and preference on lines and such. I am more intrigued with the 6 piece design as I have to fly distances for all the two handed fishing I do. That being said I do not NEED another rod by any means but they interest me. There is not a lot of high end two handers available 5 or more pieces, yes Meiser (I have a 5 piece HC and a 6 piece CX), Burkheimer has some 5 piece rods but they are all 8wt and over, Guideline (high end?), etc. So that was the genesis of my bump on this thread.

All the best,

Bill

I have one - itís a top quality blank (light, straight, nice progressive mid-flex) but I havenít had the opportunity to fish it yet. Test casting in the local park with a grass leader with a 480 Rage and a Ballistic Launcher 7/8 Iíve been really happy.

If you go to Facebook, thereís a New Zealand based group called ďThe Spey Pageď and many of the members there fish the various Epic Spey rods and could probably answer more detailed questions.

More broadly, I own or have owned many of the Epic glass rods and one of the carbon rod and not one of them have been disappointing, so Iíd expect the same from the spey rods.

Thanks

Thanks Dave. I assume you have the 6/7 (7wt)?

I ended up getting the 6/7 blank for a good price on the large auction site. Will build up, fish when I can and update.

Thanks to all.

Best,

Bill

Sneak Preview

Here is a little glimpse of my new DH13. Picked up the blank on the big auction site. Got in touch with Mr. Godshall. Story finished. Will update when I fish it. Steve recommended a 500gr scandi....

Big Thanks to Steve and Nick! Cannot wait to swing this beauty....even get it in my hands as it is far from me yet....

Updates after some field testing.

-Bill
