I don't have the rod, but the ESSS Gaelforce short speys are quite nice, and I would think the 470 would be fine on the Meiser 7 wt.

I had the 13'6" 7wt S Rod and I liked the 460 grain AFS and the grain matched BC Scandi from Steve.

Thanks for the replies. Looking at lines to be used mostly on The Gaspe with Maxima leaders or an intermediate poly at the most. would do a different setup for heavier tips. Thanks Ivan

Ivan,

GW for this rod is 450/700

This is a medium flex rod, with a powerful tip and a fast speed of recovery ... She will load nicely into the cork under full line load.

She is a 6/7 wt off the tip, and a 7/8 wt into the cork.

Scandi heads: 2.5 to 3 X rod length @ 475/525 grains

Skagit heads: 1.75 to 2 X rod length @ 525/575 grains

Classic Speys: 5/6 for tip loading, and 6/7 to deep load ... 525/575 grains @ 40/45 feet
