Thumbs up

I have that rod and love her. It will cast anything you wish. I prefer the Carron 8/9 65'. It will handle the 75' Carron, I'm sure. Just haven't cast it. The CND 8/9 GPS is also a nice match. As is the 8/9 Delta Long. It will handle any tip you need to fish. If you are in the market for a 14' rod that casts like a 15 or 16'er, you should very much consider this rod. Also very light in hand and doesn't feel like a 14 foot rod.

I readily admit I'm biased when it comes to Meiser's rods because I plain like the way they cast. I have no commercial or other interest in his rods, I just like them, use them, and really like Meiser. He is a class act.

That said, all of his Highlander Series rods, and his other series rods too, are among the finest casting 2-handers a fellow will ever cast. And if that isn't enought, a phone call or emails to Meiser to tell him exactly what you are looking for in the rod action you prefer, the type of fish and their size you are targeting, type of belly you prefer to cast, how far you will be casting both average length and farthest distance and Bob will hook you up with a rod that will far exceed your expectations. And the best part, is he doesn't charge extra for matching the rod to you. Heck, he has even been known to modify the action of one of his rods to best fit what the person is looking for, and again does so without extra charge.

Like I already said, I like this rod a lot. I prefer to use long-belly lines and this rod easily handles 800 gr long-belly lines (i.e. 8/9 GrandSpey, 8 wt SA XLT, 85' Carron 8/9, etc.). If you like a short of mid-belly line, any of the various 9/10 short or mid-belly lines work very well with it. It is a fast recovering, moderately stiff tipped, a bit stiffer than mid-flex, with a nice powerful butt, progressive rod. Most folks would call it a fast rod.
