Burky 8152 v. Meiser Highlander Classic 15' 7/8/9

Hey people,

Looking to order a new rod for the Clearwater and have narrowed it down to the Burky 8152 and the Meiser Highlander Classic. I mainly throw dry line but want the ability to cast a skagit and sink tips if the occasion calls for it. Does anyone have any insight onto which rod they like better. Any insight for that matter would help. Thanks!

Ford dodge Chevy Toyota, everyone has different tastes. But I just ordered the new model highlander classic custom build in 13-6 8 weight.
A treat for myself as my first spey rod.

Call up Meiser and he will let you test drive the rod. It may not be a side by side comparison but if you try the rod out and it is exactly what you want.... no need to worry about comparing anything.

Whilst I will admit that I have never handled the Burkie you are looking at, I have the Meiser in that model, and it will handle anything you care to trial on it, line-wise. It is one of my original Meiser rods, and it remains my favourite Meiser

Lots of fans of both rods on here. I really don't think you can go wrong with either of them. I made the move from older Sage rods to Burkheimer a few years ago and have stayed with the Burkie's as they've worked for me. Had I spent time with Bob's rods I may very well have gone that direction when I made the change. Like has been said above, I think you'd be happy with either but would recommend you take the time to cast them both. Bob has a great test program and he'll send one out to you for a trial. If you're near the Clearwater stop in and see Poppy and he'll hand you an 8152 to cast for a bit. In fact, he may have both rods available. I fish the Clearwater and generally have an 8152 in hand. If not the 8152 it's my 8142.
