Cabelas TLR 1106

Picked up one of these out of the Bargain bin. Rod will be used for dry line work mostly.

I'm not a fan of the poly tips and like to cast a long leader 17-18'. I've seen posts on the 350 ambush. This line interests me. Do you run a poly tip on it or long leader.

Scandi Compact I would assume 330gr?

Thanks in advance.

Allen

I had the same line, but used it for spey casts with a single-hand, 8 weight. I used both versileaders and straight, long leaders, but found the versileaders to have much less hinging when casting due to the large diameter of the tip of the ambush.

So the long leader is a no go for the ambush? Stick with the Scandi?

Thanks

I use a 12-14' hand tied Maxima Leader tapering from #40 to 10# or 8#. The 350 Ambush or 360 Rage work great on this rod. You will have fun with this lightweight gem.

Thanks for the info. I love the rage taper but have not used one with just a mono leader. I make my leaders the same way. Usually longer though and on Scandi's.

Thanks
