Rods? RODS? Rehab? Or just rods!

Am I sick? Do I have to many? Do I have a problem? Do I need help? Being bored unable to fish and had a look at all my fantastic sticks today, TFO's all the way up to ACR's! Wow did the collection grow, I'm not going to show my reels Anyhow ,here is my addiction all laid out and can't wait to get back on the water after this shoulder heals! What's your collection look like?

I'm down to 8, selling a couple more soon. I'm trying to get down to 3 or 4, and say "this will be it". Then by next spring , I'll read a few articles, go to the Sandy River Clave, cast a few rods. By July, I'll be up to 8 rods again. Yes it is an illness.

I think you may be on to something here. When you have enough rods, you just stop counting them - just keep track in terms of "beds" worth. As in "I'm up to 1.3 beds of fly rods. Do you think I have a problem?" Buddy then asks, "Is that queen or king sized?"

My addiction isn't so much the rods as it is the reels. Have 3 rods but will stop at 4 once I complete my collection by attaining a trout rod. Wait.... Single hand rods don't count right. So far got 8 weight for swinging big and deep, 6 weight for dri fly action and a Sage One 4116 for beach fishing. The last rod was supposed to be a trout Spey but is far to heavy for that fishery.

Rods?

If you find the number for a good rehab clinic for rod hoarding Post it to the forum please.

When you go to a casino there are signs telling you to gamble responsibly with a phone number for you to call if you need help with your addiction.

There is no such warning on any of the fly fishing gear ive purchased.

Maybe a Purchase Tackle Responsibly sign should be posted in fly shops 1 (800) ROD-PROB
Ive lost way more money in fly shops than I have in the casino.

P.S.
I am still looking for tcx5119 and 5120 VXP need a new trinity stick
Thanks you for your time

You don't have a problem until you can no longer remember how many you've got & you start finding the odd double hander in the back of your wardrobe or under a spare bed when you move it.
Oh yes, I nearly forgot, when you open a rod tube & find there are 2 rods in there not just one - & you'd completely forgotten about the "lodger' in the tube.
Not that I've done any of the above of course.......arghhh!

Regards, Tyke.

That's not a problem...that's a ton of fun! I had a similar "situation" as you and a new priority has me down to a few rods that are the ones I'll get the most use from. Ha sort of been a bit freeing letting some go. Now on to the other point above...never know what spring will bring. Apontaneois buys always seem to get the best of me.

Nice selection you have there!

It's only a problem if you go more than a year without fishing one, and then it's really more like a problem of you are not fishing enough!

I'm "down" to 8 SH and 4 DH rods. I have plans for 1 more SH and 2 more DH rods...

Not a problem - just as long as you still have a bed to lay [them] on.

I think the only problem is you have more bed to fill up.

Just did a quick count from memory and I think I currently have 6 single handers and 11 double handed rods. The latter count includes one tracking says is on the truck for delivery today. I'm not opposed to selling rods to buy rods so the 10-11 DH count is about where I like stay. Sadly, the single handers get little to no use. The others are mostly all regularly used at some time throughout the year.

This is all non-sense! 15+ double hand rods and counting. Same goes for reels. I would only consider purging those one handed sticks less than 10'. 8-)
