This tells you pretty much everything you need to know. It certainly bears out my and my group's experience last week.

If there is not chum exploitation by Cartel run by DFO and commercial fishery , then you most likely will see a fair number of fresh fish coming in. In most of parts PNW form AK rom BC, fall chums run are much smaller then the summer runs, and there is a good chance ( ??) that after August disaster the Cartel may give up for this year.

My UK Friend just off LBSL

There were virtually no fish in their lower beat (6 mile down to the canyon).

Middle and Upper beats OK. He went 12 for 19 with 3 on the dry for 6 days of fishing. His group got something like 53 to hand.

So Mark...the fish had moved thru from where we were fishing into the upper water above 6 mile. As you pointed out in your post above, we got lots of people and few fish.

Gill netters hammered on an already low run of chum in the Dean Channel and Fitz Hugh Sound, intercepting many steelhead. Fishing has been and will be tough this year on the Dean. Maybe mail Gail Shea and Dan Wagner to tell them how you feel about spending your tourist dollars in BC in the future...

The Steelhead Society of BC and guide Steve Morrow (Blackwells Lodge on the lower Dean River) prepared a good template, found here http://www.steelheadsociety.org/news...sheries-area-8. We'd sure appreciate it in BC if you wrote.
