Sharpe's wading staff on planes

I have a buddy that will be headed to Terrence, BC on Air Canada next month. He is worried about airline/ TSA regs and the ability to carry on his wading staff. Anybody have experience with this wading staff on a plane as carry on? His alternative choice would be to pick up a collapsable staff. Thanks in advance.

No experience, but I've got one, and I have my doubts they'd let me carry it on. I wouldn't want to take a chance and then have it refused. Then what do you do? I'd go with the folder in the luggage.

I guess it is really a question of whether you want to risk it. Best advice is to call or email TSA.

They take 2 piece rod tubes on board most planes I've flown, so it wouldn't be a length issue. If you do take it, I'd be careful about what kind of tip it has. I'd put a rubber end over anything metal.

Highly unlikely you could take the stick as a walk on luggage. As a checked bag, probably but a call to the airline is a good call.
