Newfoundland - August 5 - 15

Hey Guys,

Heading to the rock August 5 - 15 for a little vacation and hoping to get a couple days on the river chasing Atlantics.

Will be leaving St John's on the 5th with the intention of meandering my way all the way across to Gros Morne by the 15th.

I grew up in Gaspť Quebec and have been fishing Atlantics for 20 years, so I know the game, but my online research hasn't given up too much information, except that rivers are free and guides are mostly mandatory (which is the opposite of Gaspe).

Looking for a little advice, guidance, guides, tips or fishing partners!

Any help appreciated.

Thanks!

Guides are mandatory for all non residents, on my last visit I hired my guide through Mountain Waters Resort located on Portland Creek. Good guides good fishing.

I was there last year during the same time, unfortunately during a heat wave. However I did land one. I highly recommend staying at the Marble Inn and going fishing with John. It is farther West (Between Deer Lake and Cornerbrook) but fully worth it. Great rooms, great food, great guides.

Thanks for the info guys! Checked out both spots through the Web and they look good.

The ASF river notes from this week are painting a pretty grim picture for many NFLD rivers right now. Low and hot, many closed.

Hoping for some rain in the next two weeks before I get there!
