Where and when to go to fishing in BC?

Hello all,
I'm planing to go to BC for some other reason and I want to take a chance as "excuse" to go for fishing. I do spey casting, let just say intermediate level, as well as single hand.

I will land on Vancouver airport and thinking to go for 3 to 5 days fishing. I want to go for Steelhead, and salmons.

Is there anybody able recommend me good place to go and when?

Yes, that's right. When do you recommend to come? Let say drive range few hours to half day from Vancouver.

It is never that easy.

I can say your best bet is the Vedder/Chilliwack river. You can find out the run timings by searching the internet.

But your main problem is going to be access.
If you do not know where you are going in all probability you will either end up in a noisy spot with 50-100 other fishermen of all sorts, or you will hit one of the many "No trespassing - Private Property" zones.

Good luck.

P.S. Very soon all of us will need helicopters to go fishing. Then I would not be surprised if some of the helicopters get fitted with missiles :-)
