Salmon River NY 4/5-4/6

Swung one up on fri on my seventh cast of the first day. Didn't take a pic 'cause I thought "A fish in the first 10min? This is gonna be great!!!" and my buddy was still runnnin down stream.

Didn't see another fish all w/e....the spring swing is a different thing. Tough fishing all around.
Crowds were as bad as the fall, but somehow I found water to swing below Pineville, 2a up and down, wire hole, school house, below trestle AND the paradise tail.....a bump there but thats it.

Oh well... Im happy I did get one, about 26"

'til November.

Hi Dan,

At least the river isn't frozen over

I used to fish that river in March & April yearly and fully understand how difficult it can be just finding a fresh fish. It seems that there are always fish up around Altmar in the FF only area but I always avoided the place. The fish stack up in the big run / pool there but my memory is of way too many chuck & duck folks hanging in the area. We fished from the 2A bridge down and through Dougleston and worked for the ones caught but were usually alone.

Never give up on the spring fish unless you live too far away to give it another go.

Ard
