Just got back. had success on tan shrimp patterns with rabbit strip, pink gotchas, but by far the most productive fly was a chart/white clouser.

lonnnng leader and unweighted and small in any water less than 2 feet. any plop sent them scattering.

I haven't been there in a few years and I was in Xcalak a bit further south. I'm assuming patterns would be similar. I had good success on charlies (rabbit is great), bonefish bitters and small yarn crabs (weighted and unweighted). Crabs are especially good if you see the real prize down there.... the ever elusive Permit. Bonefish respond well to them too. Weedless ties can be really important if you're in turtle grass.

Agree with the above. Gotcha or Charlies in tan and pinkish tan, mostly size 6. A brownish tan or orangish tan crab in size 4 or 2 for permit. And a 4" purple rabbit leech for baby tarpon and snook.

Jose is a ninja and guide in Punta Allen-the best. He will be easy to find. Very good guy. I had the oprotunnity to spend 12 days with him on a remote atoll in the gulf, chasing bones and permit. Eyes like a cat....

Hi,
I think all the depends on where you are thinking to fish. Maybe patterns could be use in all locations, but in same places make THE difference.

Let me know for the exact location and i let you know.

Best regards

Cristián

Isla Blanca

Drunk Toad.
For Isla Blanca you´ll need this patterns:

Permit: Tan/white epoxi crab white rubber legs size#6.
Tarpon: Black Death is always good, small size hook #1 is enough.
Snook: White Mullet Size#1
Bonefish: Veverka mantis Size #8

That´s what i use always and have good results.

regards

Cristian
