Not 100% but my impression is that the upper pitt is only accessible by boat or air.

You are correct Bron, the upper Pitt is only accessible by air or water. You can get to the mouth of the river at the top end of Pitt Lake quite easily by boat. Getting up the river to the good fishing spots is another adventure altogether. It is about 20km up the logging road to good fishy water. If you have a river jet boat and balls of solid rock you can try your luck getting up river that way but this is only done by those with extensive experience on this very treacherous waterway. Many have failed with dire consequences. Do some research before your outing as it is quite involved. If you manage to pull it off, you're in for an incredible trip. The upper Pitt is an absolute gem for fish and scenery. Good luck and tight lines!

I was kind of wondering that myself. That aside, one of the best 'tools' to explore a new area (or find new access) is Google Earth. Amazing what you can learn via that program.

For folks looking to fish the Rogue River here in So. Oregon its the Cat's Meow. Maps are 2011 and dead on.

I had posted that same question but decided it was not Ca cause the one in CA only has one "t", as in Pit...
