Lower Umpqua Steelhead in Dec.

Hey,

does anyone know how the lower Umpqua fishes in mid Dec., I'm traveling through the area around the 15th of Dec. and would like to fish it if there's fish in the system.

Alternatively, does anyone know a good fly shop in the area that would have a fishing report?

Thanks for your help

Scott

If you really want to know, call Dean Finnerty. He guides the river and knows it very well. Last year when we were dry between Dec/Jan and I decided not to go down, he let me know later (when I called...)that the lower fished incredibly well because fish were holding waiting for water to go up higher to the North.
