October Klamath steelhead

I`am visiting my cousin in Yreka ,and I`am looking to swing some flys for steelhead- He`s a gear guy,so swinging flys is not his thing.
Like everyone else I hear the salmon run is great this year. But I`am really looking to spey for steelhead.Any suggestions?
Trinity? where it meets the Klamath?
12-6, 6 wt? would that work? 7 wt z-axis?
Is this 1/2 pounder area or ?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

the klamath!

Hey Gene the Klamath in October can be a great place! your 12-6' 6 weight would be perfect but the 7 would work just fine too the river should have a good mix of half pounders with some nice adults in it too. I would fish the middle section of the river, its not to far from Yreka and should have some good fish in there. Good luck man!

Klamath

Gene,
Invest under $10 and buy the Streamtime map for the Klamath. A best buy!
Sadly, the area from Weitchpec to I-5 experiences car break-ins; so be
fore-warned. Also, check out the Kiene forum for some of the recent
reports.
Best,
