If you leave it untill the very end of May or early June then, if you want to treat yourself, you could try the may fly fishing on the Derbyshire Wye - the Peacock Hotel at Rowsley has a good stretch. The Wye is a limestone river & is almost unique in the UK as it has a successful breeding population of wild rainbow trout as well as browns & grayling; it has some very good sized fish too.
The fishing is upstream dry fly & as said the mayfly hatch should be in full swing around then. Not cheap but norwhere near prices for the Test or other Southern chalkstreams, but the most lovely surroundings & crystal clear water, it's not "Spey" fishing but is is really good fun. - All about 45 minutes drive from Sheffield.
