Advice for OR in Sept

Hi folks, I'm heading to Oregon to visit friends at the end of Sept. I've got 6 days with no hard plans so I'd like to do some steelhead fishing. I'm travelling most of the state (PDX->Medford->Bend) so I'm flexible about moving around.

Was thinking of the Lower Rogue but heard that are only few spots to fish from the bank. I've fished the Deachutes, above Madras, but am trying to mix it up. Looking for any help in southern Oregon. PM if you can share. Thanks in advance!

Thumbs up

You are in luck when it comes to the upper 60 miles of the Rogue (Argo bar all the way up to the Hatchery. Corp of Eng's is finally cutting back the water flows and we should be down to 1,500 cfsin less than a week.

At that level, for fly flickers, it's GAME ON! Better yet, it appears this years run of summer runs may well be a 'record.' F & G's already been trucking down loads of extra fish from the holding ponds (they get dumped back at Gold Hill).

You won't be alone, several other SpeyPagers also appear to be headed this way over the next couple of weeks. Here's Dodge Bridge which is about half way from Medford to the the Wm. Jess Dam http://waterdata.usgs.gov/OR/nwis/uv...te_no=14339000

How well do you know the river?

Fred

Here's a better view of where the flows on the upper Rogue are projected to go:
