Washington in October

Flying out to Alaska for five days with the wife to look at some houses and stopping in Washington on the way back to fish for a couple days in October. Anyone have any guide reccomendations for a days float on one of the rivers in the area?

Also, what Rivers would you fish in October? It will be our first time fishing in Washington. I've only ever driven through the state and never got to stop and fish it.

Thanks in advance!

Christopher

If it were me I would target coho fishing anywhere along the coast. There is good steelhead fishing in October but it's all so crowded that i have pretty much given up on it pretty much every coastal river will have coho in October and they will chase down a fly.. do some homework and there is no need for a guide.

depends on when in october but the humptulips or the quillayute rivers will be very good in the later half of the month. lots of silvers and if the rivers are still pretty low the src fishing will be good and there should be some summer steel available too.

Grande Ronde River

More Oregon than Washington and way on the right side of the state.
Still!

I would second the Rhonde or the Snake in eastern Washington. The Wenatchee and Methow would also be option in the "middle" of the state.

Definitely there are options. What would you like to do? Steelhead, coho salmon, sea run cutthroat. Coastal or inland? DIY wade fishing, float with a guide? October is a good month to have off work and be available to fish.

Thanks for the info and PMs! I will start doing some home work on the areas. I have some friends that are from the area, but most of them are gear guys.
