Most likely it will be too warm in the Grand Ronde in July for Steelhead. If any, they will be at the mouth, staged in the Snake. Even the hold-overs will have migrated down-stream. March can be good depending on water level and run-off. If dead-set on the GR in July, the Smallmouth are a BLAST!!! Light gear, light pressure, surface action and some fat fish!!! Wait until latter part of September. October/November is perhaps the best for the Steelhead. Had a very successful trip last-week of October 2010. Floating lines and a mix of hatchery/unmarked fish.
