It's a pretty special place... And they didn't even show how big our trout get!

Travel Alberta remember to breathe

That ad campaign worked out great. Very well recieved. It was about 14 shoot days total. Got to go to some beautiful places. Amazing director (Sean Thonson) with a lot of toys. Slow mo stuff was shot with phantom which i believe shoots about 2800 fps. We also had the Alexa, red, 7d,5d. It was a real shoot, real budget, and professional crew.
There are many edits, this one seems to encompass all. Have a look at the other ones on you tube - travel Alberta remember to breathe.

Brent - not always about the fish. Some brookies were caught at the lake. But the fish pics were pale in comparison to the beauty surrounding.

Alberta is beautiful - a lot more than just some ugly oil sands!

Peter

Cool that you were a part of it Pete! Definitely more than just the fish... We are absolutely spoiled, all you have to do is look West every morning to see it.. Glad to see that Alberta is being a little more proactive with their advertising

Alberta

Maybe the phrase "Calgary Stampede" will take on a new meaning!
I've spent time in BC, the Yukon, the eastern provinces, and lots in
Ontario. Need to plan a trip to Alberta. Lots of spey pagers call it home;
must be a reason.
Best to all,
lsteinb

An awesome

With greatest frequency on TV, I see the Alberta commercial that focuses on heli-sking, and while beautiful, it is beyond the reaches of most. So, I think poorly of this heli-skiing commercial, but at lest is was better shot than the previous year home-video style of the Dinosaur Muesum and Golf in the Badlands.

This 3 minutes few is awesome, just as Alberta is. When we (wife and I) finished University, we did not go to Europe, but spent our time on Queen Charlotte Island and the Rockies-Praires.

The Praires get little attention, with people focuing on the "in-your-face" mountains. Which is unfortunate, for its beauty is in the vistas and sky. A favourite of ours is Sweetgrass PP.

You can hike some incredible views - high or into some awesome meadows. Go to Banff and hike up the huts for tea.

And the Bow River is up there with the best. I stated to friends years ago, the Bow's Raindbows fight like steelhead. If you live in or near Calgary, you are lucky to have the Bow there. (I have not been there in a decade now).

I am glad to see the 3 minute shows the great things - the plains, the hiking, and the activities you can do without having to rent a helicopter.

Queen Charlotte Islands and the sea was awesone, but for mountains, views and hiking, Alberta is great.

The skiing was not helicopter skiing. Some of it shot at sunshine ski area the rest was backcountry access in the kananaskis valley. The only helicopter stuff was for heli snowshoeing similar to heli hiking. No where near as expensive as heli skiing. Yet still heli access which does have a cost associated with it. Good to see the ads are getting noticed.

I thought I saw a helicopter in the background

Sunshine is great! I use to work at Nortel and would occassionally need to get out to Calgary. Banff, Lake Louise, Sunshine, the Bow - very nice! I have heard some concerns with development at the "Glacier" in Jasper. There is a lot of magic in Alberta.

I recall seeing images with the helicopter, so I believe I tied the two elements together. My daughter is into advertising. We discuss and debate the image-value of commercials, and quite happy to trash the bad and put on a pedestal the good - such as EDS's Cat Herders.

Some years ago I would go out to Cold Lake every other year on business. Friends in a squadron there were having problems with Bears getting their dogs. I always came back east via Calgary for some time on the Bow; one year I drove from Cold lake to Calgary. I also went out to Canmore a couple of times for daughter's Biathalon races. I always had the feeling I was just scratching the surface: beautiful country.

We live in a complex world, what with fishing, sailing, and skiing seasons overlapping.

If I didn't know better, I'd pack my bags and be on my way to visit Wild Rose Country! Thankfully I do and so I limit my time in Alberta with an annual visit to Fernie, BC each summer

A well constructed video but like all tourism propaganda videos, not indicative of what the subject really is.
