Skeena 2012

I'm fairly new to the sport; although I have been casting flies for most of my life, I can't seem to get enough spey action since my recent trip to the Deschutes in Mid-August. I am already planning to make a trip up to BC in 2012. OK I'll cut the BS and my question is, what month would be best to visit the the Bulkley? Judging by what I've read so far it's hit or miss in the first part of October!? Perhaps Oct 15 through Nov 15? I'm in the early stages of planning, but I will be driving my truck, and quite possibly pulling a small camper. I have also given some thought to renting an apartment for a month given the uncertainty of river conditions. I would like to fish the Bulkley, Kispiox, and Babine rivers. The lodges all look great, and I'm sure they would be a wonderful experience, but I really want to spend some serious time up there. Any info at all would be much appreciated.

It is all a crapshoot - have had exellent and terrible fishing on all the "prime time" weeks - it all depends on the weather and what the watergods serve you - see the recent post on poor fishing on the Bulkley last week!!
Having said that - the best time for summer runs is the last 2 weeks of sept with the first week of oct - later than this the upper tributaries are getting colder and while you may catch fish they are getting less active and in my opinion just don't give the explosive fights of earlier in the season.

Chrome
Tight lines - with that timing you should see the best of the '12 run
If you see a big guy with a 12 foot black zodiac with a golden retreiver - feel free to say "Hi"
