Sandy River (AK) Kings

It was a little slow this year but we hooked a few.
Amazing part of the world.
Can't wait to get back for Steelhead this fall!

Can you explain what is a little slow for the Sandy? What week did you fish and how many hookups. Was it all adults or was there some jacks in the mix.

From what I gather this year from AK F+G's numbers on neighboring rivers around the Sandy, most sockeye counts are half of normal. That pretty much jibes with a lot of reports around Bristol Bay for this year.
Anglers still had some pretty consistent fishing on the Sandy R. nonetheless.
I fished all 5 weeks, guiding there, the best being the early weeks naturally with fresher fish. We caught a handful of jacks. Good for shore lunch.
Its an amazing river with great fishing.

I'll see you there this fall for steelhead and we can talk about the salmon fishing.

That is a fine salmon you are showing.

Kill the hens you kill the river.
