Rogue River Fish Counts

Can anyone recommend a suitable replacement for the Gold Ray fish counts, now that the dam is gone? Heading to the upper stretches soon and would like to know what the return is like this year.

Thanks.

Red face Don't I wish.

Other than Game Department 'SWAG's' (sophisticated wild ass guess) not a chance. GR had the one/only counter on the whole system. And as the only remaining dam is THE BIG ONE at RM157 the only slim possibility is the actual number of fish that have entered the Hatchery Pond. 1 800 472 2434

But as JD Jones has noted, the few that actually get that far are going to be a fraction of what headed up all the feeder streams/creeks for their spawning runs.

Just-back from my first visit to the Rogue, and that is skunk you're smelling. Still loved the fishing. Met a nice gent that forwarded the following. Don't know if that is in the area, (Shady Cove), you're looking for. Good luck.

With the high water we've been running up by the hatchery is about the only game in town. Unfortunately, if you're a fly flicker ... not the place you'd really want to fish.

Good news is the river is dropping (still on the high side) but the water clarity has improved markedly.
