The Canada-U.S. border will remain closed to non-essential travel for another 30 days. My expectation is that there will be further extensions. Not so good for salmon anglers coming to Quebec or New Brunswick.
Yup, that appears to be the case. A friend sent me pics of my place on the miramichi taken this morning. Sigh. But I think keeping the border closed is the right thing to do.

Just got off the phone with the GGRMP (( Matapedia) and they are also waiting for the OK from the Qc. Gov’t )
9 children and 9 adults at a school in Sainte-Thérèse-de-Gaspé were hit with the c-virus this week and the school was closed on Wednesday .This follows another outbreak in the same village in April.

A moron NB health care worker traveled to Quebec, back to NB, saw lots of patients...new covid-19 cases in the Cambelton (sp?) area (region 5) as of today. That will NOT help open the borders anytime soon. Moron is the nicest thing I can think of to say about that person.
Gary
Gary ,this is all over the news here in Quebec .Turns out the person is a DOCTOR, FFS, and HAS been fired . The relatively small number of infected in N.B. that has stayed at 120 has risen to 126 in the past few days .
My 3 years of French more than 50 years ago didn't do me any good here.
Gary
Edit: BTW, the CBC reports that the health care worker in question went to Quebec for personal reasons and did not quarantine herself upon returning to NB, with the virus. And then infected others. I stand by my moron comment.
That would be a bummer... Probably the safe call, but for my own selfish reasons I'd like to be able to cross over to go to pick up a couple rods I've bought off folks here from the shipping service just over the border. Such a tease knowing they're just sitting there waiting to be fished! Ah well.
I find all the political comments interesting. It tells me a lot that is going on. Even when I think some of
the comments appear to be senseless .
If and when I believe a comment is senseless, then I MUST ask why ,and try to understand what is the
perspective of that individual. It could be something that I have never have considered, but to that person,
it resonates as something he or she feels is the truth .
One of my fishing partners is an extreme trump supporter and we are both PO'd because what was once an annual event ( the famous seafood pizza supper ) on the
York River has been cancelled because of this c-virus crap
So let's keep any political views and comments to left of Attila the Hun
I live in NB and this is extremely serious. The Premier has referred to the doctor as "irresponsible"; the case has been referred to the RCMP for investigation; the doctor has been suspended, the hospital where he worked in on emergency status, and the gradual re-opening of gyms and other facilities has been delayed province-wide. Local CBC story is at https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-...r-border-campbellton-covid-19-cases-1.5588168
We have had the best statistics in North America up to now.
I recently witnessed cars with Quebec plates going west out of Ontario, loaded with their life's belongings.
And I saw a fraserways RV from bc in Ontario heading east. Restrictions?
No restriction in Quebec province. You can book a camping site, motel/hotel, cottage. B&B, Inn are not open yet. Restaurants outside of Greater Montreal will start opening on June 15. Not sure if rest room area are open on highway. New Brunswick still have traffic barricades.
Only Restrictions are in Nova Scotia, PEI and New Brunswick I am relocating from my work apartment to PEI Next week and I need an approval to travel document issued by Provincial Health Authorities for NB and PEI only
Every where else is clear sailing with social distancing of course
Nfld and Labrador is not letting anyone onto the island or into Labrador at all unless you have express written permission from Nfld Chief medical officer, and a 2 week self-isolation plan.
