Not much access. You're best to float it. All the gravel roads out that way are good. Not bush roads.

I've never heard of this river so looked it up on Google maps.
I can see where access is a challenge.
Looks like there is one bridge providing access.
OP, have you looked it up on Google maps yourself?

The Blackwater

Blackwater is a wonderful fish, but I have not fished it in years. If I remember correctly there is some access on the way upper portion outside of Quensel, I also remember in the past, it didnít open until late in the summer, after July 4th?. Not sure if this is still the case or not.

If you do decide to float, be very careful, as there is a canyon about 2/3rds of the way down, where the entire river flows through a small rock slot... you have to unload the raft, flip the raft on itís side and then push it through the slot, and reload on the other side. To this day, itís one of the damndest things I have ever seen. Obviously, this all needs to be scouted prior to running it.

My son and I floated the Blackwater , it must be 10 years ago now. We put in at Nazko and took out above the slot. My memory is that there were lots of mayflies and lots of fish as well, but nothing much over a pound. Nice country though.
