A fly shop owner, casting instructor, guide, and I walk into a bar...

...cobble bar that is. Rogue River report.

First time for all of us fishing this section so we're learning as we go. Last week 11/14-11/16.

Day one: Casey to Shady Grove. Saw steelhead caught by the bait guys. No steelhead fly action but a trouty day for us.
Day two: Dodge Bridge to Tou Velle. One brief steelhead hookup for me at the end of the day. Zero trout. Rattlesnake Rapid is testy in a drift boat.
Day three: Shady Cove to Dodge. Had a tug right before sunset. Sweet! Changed fly and got the come back take. Yeah, 8" trout!!!

So our group of four "competent" anglers were 0/1 in three days on the upper section. Sounds like we should have been a bit lower with MattZ.

Cheers!

We need rain!!! October and November have been very dry this year. The fishing has been slower, I believe due to lack of precipitation.

Precisely why I'm going crabbing!

No rain? There are other games to play!

Further north, 6 days, 13 people through camp, guides, instructors, serious steelheaders, hack amateurs- not a fish. But hilarity, great company, great food, many beers, scotch, bourbon- even some box wine and vodka mixers (though I don't know those were consumed).
