Kamchatka and the Russian Front
Does anyone have any intel on the steelheading over there this season? We all know the bleak story of this side of the pacific this year, but I am curious about Kamchatka. Among the most common reasons advanced for this year's low returns is ocean conditions off the west coast of North America (in addition to a host of other problems that are chronic but not unduly different this year). Since the kamchatka fishery is dealing with essentially a different ocean, it would be interesting to know whether it has been a bad year there, and whether the ocean temps are elevated in the piece of ocean from which those fish return. I understand the reasons that the fishing is better there than here, but it would still be interesting to know whether this year is a less strong run there.
If everybody used shoe horns, they'd catch 'em all on shoe horns.
