Yakima River trout spey in October

Hi all,

Been trying to dig up some info on the Yakima in October using trout spey as the primary method to chase some trout on the swing. I haven't been to the Yakima yet, but was planning to take my 14' raft with me to float and swing spots on the way down. I hear the flow is running a bit low so also have two watermaster-like boats if needed.

Wondering if there are better sections of the river for swinging and any shuttle services that come recommended? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Not looking for precise details just general recommendations would be nice. Thanks!

There is some great swing water on the Yakima. From the head of the river up in Easton all the way down into the Canyon below Ellensburg. Reds runs a shuttle out of their Lodge in the Canyon and I believe there is a shuttle service run out of Troutwater Flyshop in Cle Elum. Best access is by boat but there are also lots and lots of walk in access to some great water as well. Good luck!

Give Reds fly shop a shout. They can get you squared away. Should be a great time for swinging.
