Atlantic Salmon Restigouche Opportunity

If you've always wanted to fish Atlantic salmon, or you're a seasoned veteran looking for a great new opportunity, the Atlantic Salmon Museum has just the ticket - a trip to New Brunswick's provincial camp, Larry's Gulch on the Restigouche. You can read about the camp here:

Larry's Gulch Lodge

And bid on the trip here:

LARRY'S GULCH FISHING TRIP |

If you're ever near Doaktown, New Brunswick, you need to visit the Museum. It has become a world-class institution, right on the banks of the Miramichi.

Gary

P.S. Last June, 5 hens over 30 pounds were landed at Larry's Gulch. AND while it is listed as crown reserve water (usually restricted to residents of NB only), non-residents are allowed to fish this water through this auction. All that is required is a non-resident salmon license.

I believe the opening bid is going to be lowered to 1,000ca.

It's nice that the lodge is offering the slot up for auction (hopefully with all the money going to the museum) - but it's a pretty gimped offer (maybe the reason no one is biting yet, and needing to lower the opening bid).

Single shared rod for three days, and the auction closes May 25 for fishing June 5-7. Who's going to be able to arrange travel plans like that unless you live locally or drive some somewhere nearby? The other thing is that the water in question is a good ways up stream - likely to be very few salmon on June 5th up there. The lodge essentially gave away a slot that few would want anyways.

Yeah, who wants to hook a 30 pound salmon anyway.

And thanks for your helpful comments. Non profits really love guys that support their efforts at your level.

And yes, all the money goes to the Museum. Sorry if it's a "gimped offer", but it's what the province gave us. some of us will try to make lemonade out of a lemon, at least.

Sorry this got you upset - don't take it personally.

I was just pointing out why it likely isn't drawing a lot of bids, and I think my points about the early season date, late close of the auction relative to the fishing date, and shared rod are valid.

didn't take it personally (I'm a little too old for that), but as my dear, departed mother used to say, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."
