Does a "Partner up" forum make sense?

My regular partners/friends are sometimes unable or just not interested in a particular trip I want to take. I imagine some of you are in the same boat (NPI). I think it would be cool if Speypages had a separate "Partner Up" forum where guys who want to share a drift boat or even a DIY walking/drifting trip could reach out to each other. I've seen lots of generous offers for some of you to show others around, etc., so maybe this would be a more formal version of that. I guess kind of dodgy to commit to share a boat with a stranger, but it's pretty easy to vet each other via email (in case you only want a guy who swings flies, or who doesn't smoke cigars, etc). I've always been fine fishing alone or solo with a guide, but you know that old quote from Sparse Grey Hackle, "Fishing is a solitary enterprise best enjoyed in good company." Anyway, just wanted to throw that out there, see what y'all think.

Why not simply check with the forum administrators to see if another category (whatever you call them) could be added, no different than rods, tackle, or classifieds?

You're right in the middle of like-minded peop's, so why not?

I think it a great idea. I think most people up to now have done it in “travel”. The first time I tried exactly this on here I got three times the volunteers I needed even after I tripled my planned days, so it was a great experience. I still fish regularly with a few people I partnered up with that first time. I feel like I should do it more often to meet some new people - at some point my usual suspects spam list got large enough to fill most last minute plans.

There are also some last minute type trips to certain rivers/seasons that are more strongly that usual condition-dependent and another type of add might be to get “potential” people to contact at the last moment for a certain activity.

i think it is a good idea but I wonder if it would be just as easy to have those posts here in "destinations". Quite frankly, i never really click on most of the other forums and i would imagine that could be the case for others. Just don't know how much traffic it would get.

Yeah, “destinations”. Since I couldnt remember the title of that section I kind of made your point for you. That one is not used much as it is, so possibly rename it more explicitly as “destinations and partner up”?

Yea, I check "Desitinations" frequently (you can always live vicariously, right?), and am surprised at how little action/traffic there is at that Forum in general. I think maybe Destinations/Partner Up is a great idea.

Wanted to take a moment to post to this thread so members know that this type of input doesn't just fall on deaf ears. Having exchanged a bit with my Mod counterparts we feel that "Destinations" is the appropriate place for this type of communication. The "Destinations" sub forum has served that purpose in the past with success. I recall posts where members were looking for others to fish with either locally or on destination trips and they were well received here.

Appreciate the input and participation.
