Cool A Bit Of A Change For A Post

My wife and I are vacationing along the New Jersey seashore in Avalon. I spent a couple of days with my friend and guide Dan Schafer fishing the back bays in his flats boat fishing for stripers in 3 to 5 feet of clear water. Always fun and a bit of a challenge. This was my best fish of the 2 days fishing...released unharmed of course
Cheers,
George

There is some stellar striper fishing in NJ and where you were fishing is some of the best. There are plenty of fish that don't head any further north than Avalon and all they do is cruise for crustaceans, small fish, clams etc. and then head out with the tide and hang around off the beach. Cant wait until the later fall when things heat up again.

Being transplanted from New Hampshire there is a lot of truth to the rumors about NJ. You have to dig deep to find the good stuff and make it work and the coastal fly fishing is one of those things that has done it for me. Luckily I travel 100% of the time for work (with a case of rods and reels) so life aint that bad.
