Anyone have experience or suggestions for fly fishing in the Italian Dolomites? I will be staying in La Villa for a week in early July followed by a few days in Torbole on Lago di Garda. Wondering what kind of fly patterns to bring, river suggestions etc. Is it mostly dry fly fishing?....Any information would be greatly appreciated! Ciao e grazie!

I don't know the Italian Dolomite rivers, but it is rather close to the Slovenian and Austrian rivers.
I have fished a couple of times in Slovenia and there are beautiful crystal clear Alpine rivers like the Sava Bohinska, Soca, Indrijca and they have marble trout, browns and rainbows and grayling. Most fish are 2-4lbs.
I used my 8.6' #4 rod with a floating line and small black dry flies (#14-16) and small nymphs (14-16).
All fishing was sight fishing, so you spot a fish, approach it from behind and then cast 4-5 ft in front of the fish.
Great fishing.
I don't know the license prices in Italy, but in Slovenia they are rather high, € 40-60 per day, but the Slovenian rivers are very well maintained.
Have a nice holiday!

My best memories are not too old!!
