I don't know the Italian Dolomite rivers, but it is rather close to the Slovenian and Austrian rivers.
I have fished a couple of times in Slovenia and there are beautiful crystal clear Alpine rivers like the Sava Bohinska, Soca, Indrijca and they have marble trout, browns and rainbows and grayling. Most fish are 2-4lbs.
I used my 8.6' #4 rod with a floating line and small black dry flies (#14-16) and small nymphs (14-16).
All fishing was sight fishing, so you spot a fish, approach it from behind and then cast 4-5 ft in front of the fish.
I don't know the license prices in Italy, but in Slovenia they are rather high, € 40-60 per day, but the Slovenian rivers are very well maintained.
Have a nice holiday!
My best memories are not too old!!
