Question Best Camping River

Hi Guys,
As I get a bit grayer, good tent camping has come to be as dear to me as steelhead fishing. If I can pitch a tent and don't have to drive more than a few miles up and down the river to decent runs (and if there's a good one outside the door of the tent, all the better), then I'm a happy man. Unfortunately, good riverside tent camping in pretty country and good steelheading are becoming a hard combination to find. Any suggestions? I live in Montana and can fish Oregon, Washington, Idaho and once in awhile B.C. Looking for a place to pitch a tent, kick back and cast. Thanks for your help. Keith

In Oregon Deschutes River, Max Canyon area September, mouth river right August. North Umpqua, August-October above Glide. BC Spence's Bridge area, if it ever recovers and reopens. BC North, Kispiox river in Terrace, Bulkley, or Lower Zymoetz but the Chill will be in the air. Lower Grand Rhonde above the mouth, September-October.

Road trips rock!

camping

Keith:
The Rogue - between Gold Beach and Agnes - has lots of possibilities. I'm sure the upper river does too; but, I'm not familiar with that stretch.
Good luck and have fun.

I wouldn't be sleeping in a tent up here next to a river in the fall without a 45/70 Govt. laying beside me..............There are some damn big grizzlies around ....... 1000lbs+ of cranky, hungry, huge bear........

More suggestions?

Thanks for your responses. Between the real grizzlies and the urban ones, plus all the regulations on where you can or cannot pitch a tent, the Eden I am looking for remains, with notable exceptions, elusive. Any more suggestions? Thanks, Keith
PS By the way, I'll be float/camping 80 miles of an Alaskan river this year and I'm bringing an electric fence!
