BC chinook guide search

Greeetings,

I'm in the search mode for a guide to fly fish for chinook (spey rods) in the Skeena system. I am aware of some of the fishing lodges, Z-Boat and the Dean Lodge, but would rather spend that extra money on more days fishing and a larger tip to the guide. Staying in a hotel room will suffice over a fancy lodge. There are two of us and we want to concentrate on catching a 50# king on a fly. We plan on going in the first part of July when the fresh kings are entering the system. any assistance regarding a guide and which rivers to fish would be greatly appreciated
thanks for your time

The kitimat river in kitimat B.C just a 45 minute drive from Terrace where the skeena is located. It is a much smaller river and has a good chinook run in june/july with the peak being in july. Odds of a 50# chinook are not very high but there are lots in the 30-40# range. I used to live there and have seen a lot of nice fish in the area. Rob vodola with minnette bay lodge is one of the finest guides in the area. minnettebaylodge.com i believe is the website. He specializes in spey fishing for chinook and steelhead.

I don't have a source for another guide but I will put in a plug for Z-Boat....you are coming a long way and you want to make it worthwhile......

Good luck...either way I am sure you will have a great trip

Lots of big fish in July.......

I'm Speyed......who knew it would feel so good.....

Craig,
These are what you are after
Like Hayze07 said, with chinook into #30s you'd have more chances hooking and landing them, with larger ones you'd have a hell of a time on the spey and they'd probably be dead by the time you got them on the shore.
